Moving between un-craftsmanship and natural processes, Vera Gulikers tries to find a balance between what is made and what grows. When, for example, a sculpture falls on the floor and breaks, is this a naturally occurring shape that therefore can be considered as organic, or is it a consequence of un-handy-ness resulting in a composition? She combines materials like soap, polystyrene, plastic sheets and colored chalk, with natural processes like decaying, breaking and changing color when lying in the sun. In this way she investigates the relationship between artificial materials and processes that have always existed.
